morphemes the smallest representation of meaning when it comes to words. example, Tree house=2, s=1, unladylike=3, none of these can be broken down more.

phonolgy the study of the sound system of a language
graphemes indivdual letters/ symbols that represent phonemes
morphology the study of word structure and word formation
