Hormone Chemical produced by endocrine glads that regulates body functions.
Pituitary gland small endocrine gland at base of brain that controls other glands and regulates growth and water balance
Thyroid gland endocrine gland in the neck that produces hormones that control metabolism
Adrenal glands Glands above the kidneys that produce hormones involved in stress responses, blood pressure regulation, and metabolism
Gonads Reproductive glands
Lymph fluid clear fluid that travels through lymphatic vessels
Lymph nodes Small structures that filter lymph fluid and help the immune system detect and fight infections
Spleen filters blood, removes old red blood cells, and helps fight infections.
Thymus gland located in the chest that helps develop and mature T lymphocytes
Tonsils Masses of lymphatic tissue in the throat that help protect the body from pathogens
Heart muscular organ that pumps blood throughout the body to deliver oxygen and nutrients and remove waste.
Blood vessels tubes that carry blood throughout the body
Blood A fluid that transports oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and waste products throughout the body
Arteries vessels that carry blood away from the heart
Veins vessels that carry blood back toward the heart
