Statistics

Everything needed for statistics in the GED science test

QuestionAnswer
Define the average of something. Number typical of a group of numbers .
What is the mean in a set of numbers? Sum of all the numbers in a set divided by the total number of numbers in that set.
Median refers to what in math? Number in the center of a set of numbers when they are arranged from smallest to largest.
Mode is what in math? Most common number in a set of numbers.
Statistics Sets of numbers that represent information and show patterns
How do you find the average? Done through adding all data, then dividing by all datapoints total.
How do you find the median with an EVEN set of numbers? First sorting the numbers from least to greatest. Then adding the two, middlemost numbers together, then dividing by 2.
How do you find the median with an ODD set of numbers? By sorting all the numbers from least to greatest, then find the middlemost number in the set.
How do you find mode? Looking over the most repeated number in a number set.
How do you find range? Take the biggest number in a set, then subtract it by the smallest number in a set.
