Tube colorUse
Light Blue Prevent blood clotting, coagulation testing, Additive: Sodium Citrate
Red Blood bank, immunology, serum test, no additive
Yellow Prevents blood from clotting and stabilizes growth of bacteria, blood or body fluid cultures, in patient test only
Marbled Red Contains silica particles to enhance clot formation, serum test, chemistry, spin in centrifuge after clotting
Marbled Green for plasma separation, lithium heparin and gel
Green Prevents clotting, spin in centrifuge after clotting, additive Heparin, set ASAP to lab on ice
Grey Prevents clotting, glucose and alcohol testing, needs ice bath
Lavender EDTA, prevents clotting, hematology testing , put on ice and send to lab ASAP
