Extrusion A forming process that forces material through a die to form profiles (e.g., pipes, rods, window frames).

Reaming A drilling variation that enlarges and improves hole accuracy.

Depth of Cut The thickness of the material layer removed in a single pass.
Power Requirements The energy needed to perform a cutting operation, influenced by speed, feed, and depth of cut.
Polishing A finishing process that smooths surfaces by abrasion using fine grit.
Buffing A finishing process using a soft wheel with compound to achieve a mirror-like finish.
Lapping An ultra-precise finishing process that rubs the workpiece against a surface with abrasive slurry.
Coating A layer of material applied to a workpiece surface to enhance appearance, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, or other functional properties.
Electroplating A coating process that deposits a thin metal layer (e.g., nickel, chrome) for protection or aesthetics.

Porosity (Welding Defect) Gas bubbles trapped in the weld metal.
Quality Control The systematic process of inspecting and testing products to ensure they meet specified dimensions, tolerances, and material properties.
CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) A quality control tool for automated measurement of complex geometries.
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Methods (e.g., ultrasonic, radiography, dye-penetrant) used to detect internal or surface defects without damaging the part.
