| Consequences based approach | places importance on maximising the positive outcome of an action, and minimising the negative consequences |
| Duty based approach | concerned with the duty people have to act in accordance to the rules, regardless of the consequences |
| Virtues based approach | judges the person doing the action against someone with good moral character |
| Integrity | the commitment to reporting findings honestly |
| Justice | the moral obligation to make sure no group is disadvantaged as a result of the action, and that benefits are distributed fairly |
| Beneficence | the commitment to maximising the benefits and minimising the risks involved with a particular action |
| Non-malificence | avoiding causations of harm |
| Respect | considering the welfare of all living things that are involved with taking the action, and holding them to equal regard |
