| Connotation | the implied or associative meaning of a word |
| Denotation | The literal or dictionary definition of a word |
| Descriptive Mode | A mode of writing that focuses on details about a specific person, place, or thing |
| Drafting | The act of composing a piece of writing |
| Editing | The act of improving the sentence construction, word choice, and the overall style of an essay or other piece of writing |
| Essay | A short piece of writing on a particular subject |
| Informative Mode | A mode of writing designed to inform, describe, or explain |
| Innovation Skill | A skill that helps you stratgies to develop your ideas and create change. |
| Meta-Awareness | In writing, a writerâs consciousness of how elements of the rhetorical situation have influenced that writers composition |
