4.NBT.3 Vocab Rounding

QuestionAnswer
Rounding The process of replacing a number with an approximate value that is cleaner or easier to work with, usually ending in zeros.
Round Up When the digit to the right of the target place is 5 or greater (5, 6, 7, 8, 9), you increase the target digit by one.
Round Down When the digit to the right of the target place is 4 or less (0, 1, 2, 3, 4), the target digit stays exactly the same.
Round to the Nearest... The specific place value you are targeting to round (e.g., nearest ten, hundred, thousand, etc.).
