Omotransversarius action Advances the limb and flexes the neck laterally
Latissimus dorsi action Retracts the thoracic limb, and propels trunk forward when limbs are fixed
Deep Pectoral action Primarily, adducts thoracic limb. Secondarily, retracts and protracts limb, depending on position of limb
Deltoideus action Primarily flexes humeral jt
Brachiocephalicus action Unilaterally acts to flex the neck laterally, and bilaterally, to fix the neck and to advance the thoracic limb
Infraspinatus action Flexes or extends humeral joint, depending on limb position
Teres Minor action Flexes humeral joint
Subscapularis action Flexes or extends humeral joint, depending on limb position
Trapezius action Primarily stabilizes and lifts, or elevates and adducts scapula and shoulder. Secondarily, aids in advancing the thoracic limb
Superficial pectoral action Primarily adducts thoracic limb, secondarily retracts and protracts limb, depending on limb position.
Rhomboideus action Stabilizes the shoulder and pulls dorsal edge of scapula cranially, when limbs is weight-bearing. Retracts dorsal edge of scapula when limb is non-weight-bearing. Elevates scapula and raises the neck when the shoulder is fixed
Supraspinatus action Primarily extends humeral joint. Secondarily acts as a functional lateral collateral ligament of the humeral joint
Brachialis action Flexes cubital joint
Triceps Brachii action Primarily extends the cubital joint. Secondarily flexes the humeral joint
Tensor Fasciae Antebrachii action Weak extensor of cubital joint
Biceps Brachii action Primarily flexes cubital joint. Secondarily extends humeral joint
Coracobrachialis action Adducts, stabilizes and extends humeral joint

Omotransversarius attachment points wing of the atlas and distal part of scapular spine or acromion
Latissimus dorsi attachment points Caudal half, thoracolumbar fascia, arising from thoracic vertebrae and last two ribs & Teres major tuberosity of humerus via a conjoined tendon with teres major
Deep Pectoral attachment points all sternebrae & greater and lesser tubercles (mostly), also middle of shaft of humerus and medial brachial fascia
Deltoideus attachment points Spine (spinous part) and acromion (acromial part) & deltoid tuberosity
Brachiocephalicus attachment points clavicular intersection & Cleidocervicalis; mid-dorsal fibrous raphe, which arises from dorsal spinous processes of cervical vertebrae. Cleidomastoideus; mastoid process of temporal bone. Cleidobrachialis; distal part of crest of greater tubercle
Infraspinatus attachment points infraspinous fossa & greater tubercle of the humerus
Teres Minor attachment points infraglenoid tubercle & teres minor tuberosity.
Subscapularis attachment points subscapular fossa & lesser tubercle of humerus
Trapezius attachment points Cervical part; mid-dorsal fibrous raphe of cervical region (partially fused with caudal part, cleidocervicalis). Thoracic part; Thoracolumbar fascia of thoracic vertebrae
Superficial pectoral attachment points first three sternebrae & crest of greater tubercle of humerus (dogs), on distal humerus and ulna, and fused with cleidobrachialis
Rhomboideus attachment points (Capital & Cervical parts) Capital part; nuchal crest of occipital bone. Cervical part; mid-dorsal fibrous raphe & dorsal spinous processes of some cervical vertebrae.
Supraspinatus attachment points Supraspinous fossa & greater tubercle of humerus
Brachialis attachment points brachial (musculospiral) groove & radial tuberosity (Dogs)
Triceps Brachii attachment points Caudal edge and infraglenoid tubercle of scapula (long head), tricipital line of humerus (lateral head), crest of lesser tubercle and caudomedial body of humerus (medial head), and neck of the humerus (accessory head) & Olecranon of ulna
Tensor Fasciae Antebrachii attachment points aponeurosis of latissimus dorsi & Caudal olecranon and antebrachial fascia
Biceps Brachii attachment points supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula radial and ulnar tuberosities of radius and ulna
Coracobrachialis attachment points coracoid process of scapula & crest of greater tubercle of humerus
Raphe seam of dense connective tissue
Rhomboideus attachment points (Thoracic part) dorsal spinous processes of thoracic vertebrae. Dorsocranial border, dorsomedial border, & dorsal border & scapular cartilage
Aponeurosis broad, flat sheet of dense, fibrous connective tissue that acts like a tendon to anchor muscles to bones, fascia, or other muscles
