What is the reason for Shift Factors, Participation Factors and Distribution Factors? it is an expected percentage change of power flow on a transmission line. The concept is to apply the distribution factor to predict or change transmission loading.
Generator Shift Factor (GSF) is percentage change of loading on a line due to generation. Use to determine redispatch amounts
Power Transfer Distribution Factors (PTDF) Percentage of change of electrical loading on a line due to power transfer (interchange) between areas. Used to determine interchange curtailment when tie-lines are overloaded in the Transmission Loading Relief (TLR) process.
Outage Transfer Distribution Factors (OTDF) is percentage of change of electrical loading on a line due to electrical power transfer (interchange) from one area to another while considering outages.
Line Outage Distribution Factor (LODF) is the percentage of power flow on a line that is redistributed to another line as a result of that line’s outage. Used in Contingency Analysis, what will Line X be if Line Y trips
