Tumors grading and staging

Grading determining the degree of anaplasia (How similar it is to origin tissue
carcanoma Originate in the epithermal
Grade 1 Tumor cells are well differentiated, closely resembling normal parent tissue
Grade 2 Tumor cells are intermediate in appearance, Moderately or poorly differentiated
Grade 3 Tumor cells are very abnormal and poorly differentiated
Grade 4 Tumor cells are so anaplastic that recognition of the tumor's tissue origin is different
Staging Neoplasms involves estimating the extent to which the tumor has spread.
T Staging refers to the size and extent
Curative Full removal of cancerous cells
Palliative Making them comfortable not curable
Preventative Attempting to stop the cancer before it starts
Debulking Surgery that removes as much of a tumor as possible without destroying organ/tissues nearby
N Staging refers to The number of area lymph nodes involved
M Staging refers to any metastasis of the primary tumor
TX Tumor cannot be measured (It cannot be found)
T0 No evidence of tumor
Tis Carcinoma in situ (Limited to superficial layer of tissue)
Mohs Removal of cancerous skin layer by layer
Electrocautery Burning of cancer tissue with electric current.
Laser surgery a powerful light source to cut through tissue or to vaporize cancers of the cervix, larynx, liver, rectum, or skin
Hyperplasia Rapid growth of cancerous cells
Dysplasia Abnormal growth of cancerous cells
Carcinoma in situ Limited to superficial layer of tissue
Metastasis How it spreads
Stage 1 Hyperplasia
Stage 2 Dysplasia
Stage 3 Carcinoma in situ
Stage 4 Metastasis
Carcinogens Substances that can increase the risk of cancer development
Staging Cancer Estimates the extent to which a tumor has spread
Sarcomas Arise from supportive and connective tissue
