“The forest closed, I climbed among sandstone.” The truncated sentence highlights the shift in setting, from a forest to a sandstone cliffside. This alerts the reader of the transition in landscape further reinforcing the feeling of journey and exploration.
“I walked on and on, in such vibrance.” First person language is used allowing the reader to connect directly to the narrator's thoughts and hear the unfiltered, raw emotion.
“I walked on and on, in such vibrance.” PT2 Repetition of ‘on’ signifies the length of the journey as the speaker is in a trance-like state, lost in the beauty of the natural world. This causes the reader to reflect on the importance of nature as well as its role in their life.
“That chant. What was it all for I forgot.” Truncated sentences are used in the final moments to generate an authentic voice. This invites the reader to share in the awe and wonder of the natural landscape.
“That chant. What was it all for I forgot.”PT2 Minimalism is utilised to create a stark and contemplative tone, This forces the reader to slow down and fill in the gaps, allowing room for personal interpretation.
“rested. I’ll leave my hair ruffled a bit…” The alliteration of ‘r’ accentuates the relaxed state of the man. His hair is naturally ‘ruffled a bit’, and he feels ‘rested’. This allows the viewer to observe the relaxation the natural environment brings and relate it to their own experiences.
