Ecology The study of relationships between living organisms and their physical environment
Ecosystem A community of living and non-living things interacting in an environment
Population A group of the same species living in a particular area
Biodiversity The variety of all living things in an area, including different plants, animals, and other organisms.
High biodiversity many different kinds of life; helps ecosystems stay healthy
Thermal energy The total energy of moving particles in a substance (heat energy)
Conduction The flow of energy through a sold by collisions of its atoms. Energy is transferred through direct contact
Convecion Heat transfer through the movement of fluids (liquids or gases). It is caused by differences in density. Cold, dense fluids will sink causing warm, less dense fluids to rise.
Radiation Heat transfer through electromagnetic waves, like sunlight
Kinetic energy the energy of an object in motion
Energy transfer The movement of energy from one object or system to another
Reflection wave bouncing off of a surface
Absorbtion waves energy is taken in
Transmission wave passes through the material
Ecosystems composition physical and biological components
Emprirical evidence observations and data
Conductors objects and materials that conduct and give off energy well
