Equation for power? P=E/t
Give 2 insulating techniques Double glazing, cavity walls
Insulation practical Pour hot water into can or beaker, measure initial temp and how long it takes to get to desired temp, repeat with different materials around can/beaker or multiple layers
Give the hooke's law equation Force= spring constant x extension (m)
Practical for springs and hookes law? Add masses on to spring to change force, measure extension, plot force on Y axis and extension on X axis
Equation for Elastic potential energy? E=1/2 x KE squared
What do voltmeters measure and how are they connected Parallel to desired component and measure potential difference
Equation for PD V=E/Q
Say this in words Volts = Energy / Charge (Coulombs)
Equation for current? I=Q/t
Equation for PD with resistance. V=IR
What is p.d in a series circuit? Shared between components
What is total resistance in a series circuit? All resistance added up
What are the 3 rules for parallel circuits. P.d same for every branch, current shared between each branch, adding more resisters reduces total
Equation for Power? P=VI
What does Neutral wire stay at? 0V
What is the average PD of live wire? 230V
What is the earth wire? Acts as a safety measure, its an escape route for currents that would cause an electric shock if touched
What is the national grid? Distributes electricity to where it is needed
What do we draw for current in wire? Circular rings pointing right
Equation for Force in motor effect F=BIL
What is the B and what do we measure in? Magnetic flux density (Tesla)
Practical for finding magnetic flux density. Measure mass and convert to N, measure length of wire in field
Equation for density? Mass/Volume
What is internal energy? Sum of kinetic energy and potential energy of all particles in a substance
What is 0K in Celcius? -273 (Absolute zero)
