What were the New England colonies known for? Their religious freedom
What were the Middle (bread basket) colonies known for? Their religious tolerance and diversity
What were the Southern colonies knows for? Large plantation farms full of slaves and fertile soil perfect for farming
What were the New England colonies? Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode island, and Connecticut
What were the Middle Colonies? New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania
What were the Southern Colonies? Georgia, Maryland, Virginia, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
What's a colony? A piece of land that is owned by a foreign country.
What was the first successful English colony? Jamestown, Virginia in 1607 by the Virginia Company of London
Captain John Smith The person who saved Jamestown, Virginia since the English wanted to search for gold despite facing hardships like disease and hunger, so he forced them to plant crops and have good relationships with the Native Americans
Reasons people moved to America? America had many opportunities such as a fresh start especially for those in debt and offered religious freedom while also supplying Natural resources like land.
Peter Stuyvent The Governer of New Netherlands who surrendered it peacefully and without a fight to the English after they came with war ships
What happened to New Netherlands? The Governer of New Netherlands at the time had surrendered it peacefully and without a fight after the English came with war ships and the English renamed it New York
