Chambers There are 4 chambers of the heart & is also divided into the right and left side.
Atria Upper chambers of the heart
Right Atrium Right side of the heart and receives deoxygenated blood from the superior vena cava and inferior vena cava.
Left Atrium Left side of the heart & receives oxygenated blood from the lungs by the way of the pulmonary veins
Ventricles Large chambers in the lower part of the heart.
Right Ventricle Pumps blood into the pulmonary arteries
Left Ventricle Pumps blood into the Aorta
Septum Thick muscular wall that divides the heart into left & right
Anterior Wall The front wall of the heart that lies against the left rib cage
Posterior Wall The wall that faces the ribs in the back
Inferior Wall The wall that faces the lower half of the body
Valves Prevent blood from flowing backwards
Tricuspid Valve Located between the right atrium and right ventricle. (3 cusps or leaflets)
Pulmonary Semilunar Lies between the right ventricle and pulmonary artery
Bicuspid Valve of Mitral Valve Located between the left atrium and left ventricle. (2 cusps or leaflets)
Aortic Valve Located between the left ventricle and the aorta
