LIS - Laboratory Information Systems a software package designed to interface between the lab, physicians and patient portals
Acession number a unique identifier generated as a battery of tests is ordered, this will follow the test(s) until results are sent or the order has been canceled
Preanalytical/Preexamination prior to testing

QNS - quantity not sufficient blood is not drawn to a sufficient amount to test or to mix with additives

The time limit for separating plasma or serum from cells is 2 hours
A blood smear from an EDTA tube needs to be made within 1 hour
EDTA specimens for ESR need to be treated prior to 4 hours or refrigerated for up to 12
EDTA specimens for CBC should be tested before 6 hours, but can sit at room temperature for 24 hours
Centrifuge needs to be balanced
