Global Age of Imperialism

TermDefinition
Primary A "direct" source that comes straight from an eye-witness or the time it happened
Secondary A source created by someone who was NOT there. They studied other records to learn about it.
Era A long period of history that is special because of certain people, events, or changes.
Eye-Witness A person who was actually there and saw an event happen with their own eyes.
Global/International Something that involves many different countries around the whole world, not just one.
Raw Materials Basic things found in nature that are used to make or build something new.
Manuafactured Goods Items made in a factory from raw materials to be sold to people.
Trade Buying, selling, or swapping goods and services with other people or countries.
Market A place where people meet to buy and sell goods, like food or toys.
Imports Resources or goods brought in from another country to be used or sold.
Exports Resources or goods sent from one country to another to be sold.
Border An imaginary or real line that separates two different places, like countries or states.
Colony A new settlement or area of land that is controlled by a powerful country far away.
Conference A formal meeting where people talk about important ideas or share information.
Rebellion A fight against people in charge or an attempt to change how things are run by using force or protest.
Rival A person or group who is competing against another to be the best or to win something.
Ally A person, group, or country that joins with another to help and support them.
Diverse Made up of many different things, people, or ideas.
Sovereignty The power of a country to be independent and make its own laws without being told what to do by others.
Independence The freedom to make your own choices and take care of yourself without needing help or control from others.
