subcutaneous layer beneath the dermis layer of skin. contains fat tissue, nerves, elastin, and collagen. provides insulation
sudoriferous glands located throughout the body, but more concentrated on the soles of feet and palms.
sebaceous (oil) glands found at the base of hair follicles and secrete sebum.
Sebum discourages bacterial growth; lubricates skin to keep soft
skin protects and regulates temperature.
