Meristem Area of plant tissue where cells divide to form new tissues (tips of roots/stems)
Mitosis Nuclear division, maintains parental number of chromosomes for daughter cells (basis of bodily growth and asexual reproduction in some eukaryotes)
Multicellular Organism w/ more than one cell
Muscle Tissue Tissue made of muscle fibres that contract at stimulation
Nervous tissue Tissue containing cells specialized for transmission of nerve impulses
Neuron Nerve cell
Organ Group of different tissue types that work together to perform certain functions
Root hair Tube-like outgrowth of a root epidermal cell that increases root’s SA, absorbs water/nutrients
Specialization Having special features linking to a specific purpose
Specialized cell Cell w/ features suited to its purpose
Stem cell Unspecialized cell that can transform into different specialized differentiated cells
