| Term | Definition |

| Executive Branch | The part of government headed by the President that enforces and carries out laws. |
| Legislative Branch | The part of government (Congress) that writes and votes on new laws for the country. |
| Judicial Branch | The part of government (Supreme Court) that interprets laws and decides if they follow the Constitution. |
| Democracy | A government system where the citizens hold the power and vote to make decisions. |
| Democratic Republic | A country where citizens vote for representatives to make laws and run the government for them (like the USA!). |
| Communism | A system where the government owns all property and businesses, aiming to share everything equally. |
| Dictatorship | A government ruled by a single leader who has total power, and citizens have no say in the laws. |
| Monarchy | A government ruled by a King or Queen, where leadership is passed down through the family. |
| Constitution | The highest set of laws and rules that explains how our country's government must work. |
| Checks and Balances | A system that makes sure no single branch of government becomes too powerful. |
