Stricken Affected mentally or physically in a negative way Synonym= Hurt, Sick or injured Antonym= Unaffected, healthy, whole I was stricken with grief after my friend past away.
Clad Dressed , equipped with an outer layer Synonym= Covered, protective coating Antonym= Naked or bare I was clad in a polo shirt and jeans.
Stupor A state of reduced mental function Synonym= Mental daze, extreme awareness Antonym= Alert or energetic I was acting stupor after I hadn't ate enough
Leery Cautious Synonym= Hesitant, Skeptical Antonym= Confident or trusting I was leery when I approached my teacher because I didn't want to embarres my self by getting the wrong answer.
Contract To become smaller to tighter Synonym= To shrink, reduce Antonym= Grow or expand His muscles contract when he lifs the heavy weight.
Underprivileged People who lack the normal amount of money, education or other disadvantages Synonym= Disadvantaged, low-income Antonym= Wealthy, rich, spoiled The underprivileged students have a hard time affording lunch everyday.
Taut Pulled or firm Synonym= Tight or stiff Antonym= Loose or a lot of slack When the two teams were pulling on the rope it became taut.
Conformity To fit in or gain acceptance Synonym= Feel included, fit in with a group Antonym= Alone or goes against a group The kid wore the latest Jordans in a display of conformity.
Ruefully Sad or regretful Synonym= Apologetic or remorsefully Antonym= Joyfully or proudly The man spoke ruefully after he had felt bad for what he did.
Idolized To look up to Synonym= Praise or try to be like Antonym= Look down on or dislike I idolize my parents for how hard-working they are.
Guardian A legal guardian who watches over a child Synonym= Parent Antonym= n/a My guardians are my mom and dad
Liable Likely Synonym= Probably going to happen Antonym= Unlikely or no chance I'm liable to thank my teacher while walking out of their classroom.
Hearing Court case Synonym= Trial Antonym= n/a The hearing was for a murder trial.
Vacuum Isolated or emotional emptiness Synonym= Void or nothingness Antonym= Fullness, happy I living in a vacuum which is why I started talking to a therapist.
Welled Building up Synonym= Leading up or stacking Antonym= Drying up The sadness welled up which was why I started seeing a therapist.
Vast Large in size Synonym= Huge or big Antonym= Small or tiny The vast ocean had many species of fish living in it.
Veered To change directions suddenly Synonym= Divert, re-route Antonym= Continue, stay the same The bus veered because of the blocked off road.
Acquitted Cleared Synonym= Innocent Antonym= Guilty The suspect was aquitted and the trial came to an end.
