Vocabulary for the Branches of Government

What are the three branches of the United States government? The three branches are the Legislative Branch, Executive Branch, and Judicial Branch.
Why does the government have three branches? The government has three branches so that no one person or group has too much power.
What is the job of the Legislative Branch? The Legislative Branch makes laws.
What group is part of the Legislative Branch? Congress is part of the Legislative Branch.
What are the two parts of Congress? The Senate and the House of Representatives.
What is the job of the Executive Branch? The Executive Branch carries out and enforces laws.
Who is the leader of the Executive Branch? The President of the United States.
What is one responsibility of the President? The President signs or vetoes bills and makes sure laws are followed.
What is the job of the Judicial Branch? The Judicial Branch interprets laws and decides if laws follow the Constitution.
What is the highest court in the United States? The Supreme Court.
How many justices serve on the Supreme Court? There are nine Supreme Court justices.
