QuestionAnswer
Nucleus The control center of the cell that holds the DNA.
Mitochondria The “powerhouse” of the cell that releases energy from food.
Chloroplast Absorbs sunlight and turns it into chemical energy.
Vacuole Storage sac in the cell. Plant cells usually have one large central vacuole that stores water and helps keep the plant firm
Cell Wall Stiff outer layer that supports and protects plant cells and helps them keep their shape.
Cell membrane Thin, flexible barrier around the cell that controls what enters and leaves the cell.
Ribosomes Tiny organelles that build proteins for the cell.
Cytoplasm Jelly-like fluid inside the cell where organelles are found and many reactions happen.
