Chem
| Acidity | a measure of the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution |
| Alkalinity | a measure of the hydroxide ion concentration in a solution |
| Arrhenius acid | a substance that produces hydronium ions as the only positive ions when dissolved in water |
| Arrhenius base | a substance that produces hydroxide ions as the only negative ions when dissolved in water |
| Electrolyte | a substance whose water solution conducts an electric current |
| Hydrogen ion | a hydrogen ion without its electron |
| Hydronium ion | H3O formed by the combination of a water with a hydrogen ion |
| Indicator | A substance that undergoes a color change that can be used to determine when a reaction is complete |
| Neutralization | the reaction between an acid and a base to produce water and a salt |
| pH scale | a logarithmic scale that measures the acidity or alkalinity of a solution on a scale from 1-14 |
| Salt | the product of a neutralization reaction, an ionic substance consisting of a metallic cation and anion other than hydroxide ion |
| Titration | the process of determining the concentration of an unknown substance by a reaction with a solution of known concentration |
