grammar

QuestionAnswer
noun a word that names a person, a place, a thing, or an idea.
common noun a general name for a person, a place, a thing, or an idea.
Proper Nouns the name of a particular person, place, thing, or idea.
singular noun names one person, place, thing, or idea.
plural noun names more than one person, place, thing, or idea.
possessive noun shows ownership. It tells what or to whom another noun belongs.
Adverbs. modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs.
adjectives tell which one, what kind, or how many. They modify nouns and pronouns.
Action Verbs tell about an action.
direct object is a noun or pronoun that receives the action of the verb.
Linking verbs connect, or link, the subject with a word in the predicate.
present tense tells about an action or state of being happening now.
future tense tells about an action or state of being that will happen in the future.
Irregular verbs have special past forms that are made by changing the spelling of the present form.
pronoun is used in place of a noun.
antecedent The word a pronoun replaces is the antecedent of the pronoun.
Possessive pronouns are used to show ownership or relationship.
Singular Possessive my, mine, your, yours, his, her, hers, its
Plural Possessive our, ours, your, yours, their, theirs
indefinite pronoun is a pronoun that does not refer to a specific person or a specific thing.
Reflexive pronouns reflect the action of the verb back to the subject and end in self or selves.
