QuestionAnswer
What did Democritus discover? Democritus was the first to discover atoms, he disocovered a major part of science that was major and impressive for that time as there were very limited science equipment during his time (around 400 BC), created the word atom.
What did John Dalton discover? Formulated the foundation for the modern atomic theory. Proposed that all matter is composed of tiny, indestructible indivisible particles. His theory of what an atom looked like is a plain solid ball, didn't discover/ develop a theory on parts of atom.
What did JJ Thompson discover? JJ Thompson's experiment led to the discover of the first subatomic particle, he discovered the electron. His experiment with cathode ray tubes showed that all atoms contain electrons (write negatively charged subatomic particles).
What did Ernest Rutherford discover? Rutherford discovered the nucleus of the atom during an experiment with radioactive elements. He discovered protons, the nucleus and developed a THEORY of neutrons.
What did Niels Bohr discover? Developed the Bohr Model which proposed that electrons orbit the nucleus. Discovered that electrons travel in orbits around the nucleus in specific energy levels/shells.
What are signs of a chemical reaction? Bubbles, change in colour, gas, rusting, and rotting.
why does the mass of the reactants equal the mass of the products during a chemical equation Because the law of conservation of mass states that matter cannot be created nor destroyed
What is the name given to the test for hydrogen gas? The pop test
