| axis | An imaginary line through the center of an object around which it spins or rotates. |
| degree | A unit of measurement for angles or temperature. |
| discrepancy | A clear difference or disagreement between facts or numbers that should be the same. |
| equator | The imaginary line drawn around the middle of the Earth, separating north and south. |
| geography | The study of the Earth's physical features, climate, and human populations. |
| latitude | The distance north or south of the equator, measured in degrees. |
| longitude | The distance east or west of the prime meridian, measured in degrees. |
| mass | The total amount of physical matter that an object contains. |
| period | A specific length or block of time in history or during an activity. |
| pole | Either of the two points at the very top or bottom of the Earth (North or South). |
| zone | An area or region set aside for a specific purpose or distinguished by a feature. |
| challenge | To question the truth or statement of someone, or to invite someone to a competition. |
| count on | To depend or rely on someone or something with confidence. |
| disregard | To completely ignore something or treat it as unimportant. |
| look down on | To think that someone or something is inferior, low status, or not worthy of respect. |
| look up to | To respect and admire someone deeply, often as a role model. |
| reprimand | To speak to someone sharply and officially because they made a serious mistake. |
| revolve | To move in a circular path around a central object or point. |
| surrender | To stop fighting or resisting an enemy or difficulty and officially give up. |
| talk back (to) | To reply in a rude, disrespectful way to someone in authority. |
| work out | To find a solution to a problem, or to calculate an amount through reasoning. |
| at a time | Separately or individually during a single continuous period (e.g., two at a time). |

| periodic | Happening or appearing at regular intervals over a long block of time. |
| silent | Making no sound at all; completely quiet. |
| willing | Ready, eager, or prepared to do something without being forced. |
| won’t | The contraction for 'will not', used to express a refusal to do something in the present or future. |
| wouldn’t | The contraction for 'would not', used to express a past refusal or a conditional negative. |
