Elite (adj) people of the highest social status EX: Socs are considered ELITE because they have more money.
Ember (noun) small, live piece of coal or wood as in a dying fire EX: We made sure to put out the EMBER in the fire pit so the wind didn't start a larger fire.
Apprehensive (adj) uneasy or fearful about something that might happen EX: I was APPREHENSIVE about jumping off the high dive due to my fear of heights.
Defiance (noun) disobedience; insubordination EX: Lola got a detention because of her DEFIANCE of the dress code. Her shorts were too short.
Contemptous (adj) showing or expressing scorn or disrespect EX: The CONTEMPTUOUS look on the Soc's face when he saw Pony with his girl struck fear in the reader's hearts.
Sheepish (adj) embarrassed; bashful; shy EX: Eli gave a SHEEPISH grin after learning he was awarded Student of the Month.
Premonition (noun) intuition; hunch; sixth sense (feeling that something bad will happen) EX: When I woke up, I felt like my dream was a PREMONITION for having a really bad day.
Rueful (adj) showing sorrow or regret EX: James felt RUEFUL after having to tell his parents his bike was stolen because he didn't lock it up.
Bleak (adj) not cheerful or hopeful; gloomy EX: The BLEAK landscape let us know it was winter because of all of the flowers were dead.
Quaver (verb) to tremble or shake EX: The haunted house was so scary I could feel myself QUAVER from every little sound.
Unceasingly (adv) without ending; continuously EX: Sharks UNCEASINGLY pursue their prey. They will circle it and then attack
