What does attendant do before administering Ventolin? Complete primary survey, attempt complete history and delegate vitals.
What medication is attendant giving for Ventolin? What's the preference if they are sick(influenza like illness))? 5mg of Ventolin nebulized or MDI: 4x100 mcg (Recommended choice with spacer if influenza like illness suspected)
What does attendant do after administering Ventolin? Transport immediately after first dose consider bringing additional resources to ventilate patient.
What does partner do before the administration of Ventolin? Obtain Baseline set of Vitals starting with RR and SpO2. Prepare the cot.
What does attendant do during the continue assessment and treatment? If patient is still showing signs of SOB continue treatments with two more doses. (Same dosage amounts)
What should you do during the A in SOAP with SOB patients? Auscultate.
How should you phrase questions with someone experiencing shortness of breath? Into single word answers/yes or no head movements. For more complicated questions consider using pen and paper.
During the RBS, where should you spend extra time checking? Check the ankles for edema
What are the signs and symptoms of failing respirations? (Indicating need for assisted ventilations) Decreasing LOC Absent respirations Hyperventilation RR < 10 in adults or less than < 12 children and < 16 infants Agonal respirations Central/Cyanosis Decreasing SPo2
