What is radical feminism? calls for the dismantling of patriarchy under its central tenet that women are oppressed by men. Rather than making changes to the current political, economic, and social systems that exist, radical feminists instead call for a complete upheaval.
What is marxist feminism? feminism that puts class oppression under capitalism in conversation with gender oppression under patriarchy and aim to liberate the oppressed by transforming the economic conditions of their exploitation.
What is socialist feminism? combines both radical and Marxist feminism. recognizes that patriarchy and capitalism are major sources of inequality and oppression, but also recognize that there are many other sources of oppression that must be understood for liberation to occur.
What is womanism? coined by Alice Walker to distinguish between black women's experiences of oppression and the white feminist movement. also resists the racism that exists in the white feminist communities, and it refutes the sexism that exists in black communities.
What is liberal feminism? Liberal feminism focuses on individual choice and responsibility by emphasizing how woman can achieve equality through individual actions and work. also advocate for law reform to uphold equal rights and equal opportunities for women.
What is ecofeminism? links feminist analyses of gender and power inequality with environmentalism to understand the relationship between humans and the natural world. draw parallels between the oppression of marginalized groups and the oppression or exploitation of nature.
What is lesbian feminism? challenges heteronormativity and patriarchy by presenting alternative ways of thinking about gender and power. advocate for the building of community and relationships between women as an antidote male supremacy.
What is separatist feminism? argues that the most effective way to achieve liberation for women is to separate from men and patriarchy. This would involve separating from all male-defined institutions, activities, or roles that uphold male privilege.
What is transnational feminism? examine issues from a global perspective. This is a perspective that analyzes how gendered power inequalities are shaped by imperialism and colonialism.
What is Indigenous feminism? focuses on amplifying Indigenous values and practices insofar as they provide alternatives to colonial patriarchal systems. focus on decolonization, settler complicity, and Indigenous sovereignty.
