repetition the purposeful repeating of a word or phrase within literature to create a rhythm or make a point
simile compares two unlike things using "like" or "as" to create vivid imagery.
alliteration the repetition of initial and stressed sounds at the beginning of words or in accented syllables.
allusion a reference to a famous person, place, event or work of literature
setting is the time and place a story takes place.
plot the series of events of a story. The plot of a story consists of exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and the resolution.
personification when human qualities are given to non-human things.
symbolism when an object, color, shapes or gestures stands for something else.
theme he main message in a work of literature, usually about life, society, or human nature.
central idea the main point of the story (who, what, and where).
dynamic character a character who experience personality changes throughout the plot of a story
static character character who does not experience personality changes during the course of the story
Contrast and/or Contradiction when a character does something that is different than what you would expect.
Shifts and Changes when micro actions (small moments) when a character acts slightly different from what you would expect.
Memory Moment when the author chooses to interrupt the action to tell about a memory; a flashback.
Words of the Wiser when an older character offers serious advice to the main character.
Repetition of Words and Symbols looking for the repetition of words, objects, or colors.
Aha Moment when a character realizes, understands, or finally figures out something. -How might this change things?
