What is the classification of Aspirin? It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and a cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor
What are the contraindications to Aspirin? - Allergy to medication - Bronchospasm - Angioedema
What are the adverse effects of Aspirin? - Can cause bronchoconstriction in about 10% of asthmatic patients - Nausea, Vomiting, & GI Upset - Allergic reactions - Don't use enteric coated tablets.
What is the adult dose for Aspirin? 160-325 mg PO of non enteric coated ASA
Aspirin Indications Cardiac signs/symptoms with ischemia etiology.
