How did the government respond to the WWI veterans camping out in the capital? The government said no and drove the veterans away.
Who became president in 1933? Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
What did people call the broadcasts that the president gave? “Fireside chats”
What did Roosevelt want to do instead of just giving money to unemployed workers? He wanted to give people jobs.
What is a deficit? A debit, which happens when the government spends more money than it takes in.
What were “runs” on banks? When depositors panicked and tried to take out all their money.
What does depression mean when referring to the economy? Times when the economy is not doing well.
What does it mean for workers to go on strike? It means that they refused to work until working conditions got better
