| Figurative Language | writing or speech that is not meant to be taken literally |
| Idiom | common phrases where the meaning of the expression cannot be understood from the literal definition of the individual words |
| Metaphor | a figure of speech that compares two different things by stating one thing literally is another |
| Similie | a figure of speech that compares two different things using the words "like" or "as" |
| Alliteration | a literary device where the same consonant sound is repeated at the beginning of closely connected words |
| Hyperbole | a figure of speech that uses extreme exaggeration to emphasize a point, create humor, or show strong feelings |
| Personification | a figure of speech where you give human qualities, emotions, or actions to non-human things |
| Onomatopoeia | a literary device where a word phonetically mimics or resembles the sound it describes. |
| Oxymoron | a figure of speech that puts two completely opposite or contradictory words next to each other to create a new, often clever phrase |
| Recieve | to get, take, or accept something that is given, sent, or offered to you. |
| Ordinary | normal, usual, or average |
| Committee | small group of people chosen from a larger group to do a specific job, solve a problem, or plan an event. |
| Campaign | an organized series of actions designed to achieve a specific goal |
| Incredible | impossible or very difficult to believe because it is so amazing, extraordinary, or extreme |
| Jeopardy | being in danger, at risk, or facing the possibility of harm or loss |
