What is the diagnostic criteria for ASD according to DSM v persistent deficits in 3 areas of social communication and interaction AND at least 2/4 types of restricted, repeated behaviour
What are the areas of social communication deficits? 1) Reciprocity (Failure to respond, approach, back and forth) 2) Non-verbal behaviour (eye contact, body language) 3) Developing, maintaining and understanding relationships
How is severity described in the DSM-V In 3 levels. Level 3: Needs very substantial support Level 2: Needs substantial support Level 1: Needs support
What is the first subset of restricted repeated behaviour? Restricted, repetitive patterns of behaviour, interests, or activities manifested by at least 2 of: Motor movements, aversion to change, fixated interests, hyper or hyporeactivity to sensory input.
What is the second subset of restricted repeated behaviours? Symptoms present in early development
What is the 3rd subset of restricted repeated behaviours? Symptoms cause clinically significant impairment in social occupational or other important areas of current functioning
What is the 4th subset of restricted repeated behaviours? Symptoms are not better explained by another disability or disorder.
What other specifications should be made (co-morbidities? -W or w/o intellectual impairment, language impairment, genetic condition, other neurodev, mental, or behavioural disorder, catatonia.
