Actus Reus The guilty act required for a crime.
Incapacitation Preventing offenders from commiting more crimes.
Beyond a reasonable doubt Highest standard of proof in criminal law.
Self-Defense Use of reasonable force to protect oneself.
Criminal Liability Legal responsibility for a crime.
Insanity Defense Claim that mental illness prevented understanding right from wrong.
