Denver The capital and largest city of Colorado, known as the "Mile High City."
Mount Elbert The highest peak in the Rocky Mountains, located in Colorado.
Colorado River The major river that carves the Grand Canyon and originates in the Never Summer Mountains.
Gunnison River The tributary that forms the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
Golden The Colorado city home to the Coors Brewing Company and the School of Mines.
Hoover Dam The arch-gravity dam on the Colorado River that creates Lake Mead.
John Wesley Powell The explorer who led the 1869 expedition down the Green and Colorado Rivers.
Pikes Peak The iconic "fourteener" near Colorado Springs, discovered by Zebulon Pike.
Air Force Academy The military institution located in Colorado Springs, famous for its Cadet Chapel.
Salton Sea The saline lake in California created by a breach in a Colorado River irrigation canal.
Mesa Verde National Park in SW Colorado known for its ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings.
Aspen The famous ski town in Colorado that hosts the annual Aspen Ideas Festival.
Colorado Springs The second-largest city in Colorado, home to the Garden of the Gods.
Grand Coulee Dam The largest hydroelectric producer in the US (located in WA, often a distractor for CO dams).
Fourteeners A term for mountains over 14,000 feet, of which Colorado has 58.
