| Brand name | a unique, pronounceable name—often a proper noun—applied by a manufacturer or organization to a specific product or service to differentiate it from competitors |
| Brand mark | a graphic symbol or icon that represents a company without any accompanying text |
| Trade name | the public-facing name a business uses to identify itself, rather than its legal, registered name |
| Trade character | a person, animal, or animated object used in advertising to represent a brand |
| Trademark | any word, phrase, symbol, design, or combination thereof that identifies and distinguishes the source of goods (or services) of one party from those of others |
| National brand | a product distributed across an entire country under a brand name owned by the manufacturer or producer |
| Private brand | a product manufactured by a third-party company but packaged and sold under a specific retailer's own brand name |
| Generic products | consumer goods, often staple items or pharmaceuticals, sold without a widely recognized brand name or logo, typically featuring plain packaging and lower prices than branded counterparts |
| Brand extensions | a marketing strategy where a company uses an established brand name to launch a new product in a different category |
| Brand licensing | the process of renting or leasing intangible intellectual property—such as a logo, character, name, or slogan—to another company for commercial use |
