cervical dysplasia Abnormal cell changes on the cervix that may lead to cervical cancer.
cystocele Hernia of the bladder protruding through the vaginal wall.
eclampsia Pregnancy condition involving seizures and high blood pressure.
ectopic pregnancy Pregnancy in which the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus.
endometrial cancer Cancer of the endometrium, the inner lining of the uterus.
endometriosis Condition where endometrial tissue grows outside the uterus.
fibrocystic breast changes Noncancerous fibrous tumors causing painful, lumpy breasts.
fibroid tumor Benign fibrous growth in the uterus.
hemolytic disease of the newborn Breakdown of a newborn’s red blood cells due to maternal antibodies.
human papillomavirus (HPV) Common sexually transmitted virus that can cause genital warts and cancers.
infertility Inability or reduced ability to conceive children.
mastalgia Breast pain.
meconium aspiration syndrome Condition where a fetus inhales meconium-contaminated amniotic fluid.
menometrorrhagia Heavy or irregular bleeding during and between menstrual periods.
menorrhagia Excessively heavy menstrual bleeding.
miscarriage Loss of a fetus before it can survive outside the womb.
ovarian cancer Cancerous tumor of the ovaries.
ovarian cyst Fluid-filled sac within or on the ovary.
pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) Infection and inflammation of female reproductive organs.
placenta previa Condition where the placenta blocks the cervix.
polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) Hormonal disorder involving ovarian cysts and irregular menstruation.
preeclampsia Pregnancy complication involving high blood pressure, swelling, and protein in urine.
premenstrual syndrome (PMS) Group of symptoms occurring before menstruation.
prolapsed cord Umbilical cord drops through the cervix before the baby.
prolapsed uterus Downward displacement of the uterus into or out of the vagina.
pseudocyesis False pregnancy in which a person believes they are pregnant.
pyosalpinx Fallopian tubes filled with pus.
rectocele Protrusion of the rectum through the vaginal wall.
sexually transmitted infections (STIs) Infections spread through sexual contact.
stillbirth Death of a fetus after the 20th week of pregnancy.
toxic shock syndrome (TSS) Severe bacterial infection associated with tampon use.
vaginitis Inflammation of the vagina caused by infection or hormonal changes.
