| Humbly | To act in a modest, respectful, or unpretentious manner, without pride or arrogance |
| Synagogue | A Jewish house of worship, study, and community gathering |
| Exterminate | To destroy or kill off completely |
| Emigration | The act of permanently leaving one's region to settle in another |
| Midst | The center or interior part of something |
| Pious | Strongly believing in religion, and living in a way that shows this belief: |
| Notorious | Being famous or widely known for something bad, immoral, or unfavorable |
| Comradeship | The deep bond of friendship, loyalty, and trust shared between people |
| Traffic | The buying and selling of illegal goods or services, especially between regions |
| Quarantine | Strictly enforced period of isolation used to contain and prevent the spread of infectious diseases or pests |
| Emaciated | Very thin and feeble, especially from lack of nutrition or illness |
| Sage | A person recognized for profound wisdom, experience, and sound judgment |
| Dysentery | An intestinal infection that causes severe, bloody diarrhea |
