Console a specialized computer device designed primarily for interactive gaming, usually outputting to a TV or display and operated with a controller.
Cut scene a non-interactive sequence in a video game that temporarily interrupts gameplay to advance the storyline, develop characters, or highlight environmental changes
ESA The Entertainment Software Association
ESRB Rating a self-regulatory organization that assigns age and content ratings to video games in the United States and Canada.
First Person Shooter Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, and Apex Legends
FPS (Frames Per Second) measures how many individual images your system renders every second to create smooth, responsive video game visuals
Game screens represent the distinct structural, informational, and visual phases a player navigates during an interactive experience
Genre classifies a game based primarily on its gameplay mechanics, objectives, and how the player interacts with the world, rather than its story, setting, or visual style.
Gone Gold the main development of a game is content-complete and the final build has been approved by platform holders
Grind repeatedly performing repetitive, often monotonous tasks—like fighting the same enemies or gathering resources—to gain experience points, level up your character, or earn rare loot.
Janky a game, mechanic, or control scheme that feels unpolished, awkward, or functionally flawed
Level a self-contained, playable space or mission that a player must navigate to reach a specific objective or progress the story
Loot any in-game items, currency, or rewards acquired by players for progressing, completing quests, or defeating enemies
MMO Massively Multiplayer Online

Platform the hardware system used to play games (like a console or PC) or a genre of video games focused on jumping and climbin
Quest a specific mission, task, or journey assigned to the player
Realm a separate, dedicated server, distinct game world, or dimension
RPG a video game genre where you assume the role of a character in a fictional setting and guide their progression.
Sprites a two-dimensional image or animation (bitmap) that is integrated into a larger scene
Top-down a video game perspective where the camera is positioned directly above the action, looking down at the player character and environment
