| Henry VIII | Major figure of reformation he was the king of England from 1509-1547 he wanted a male heir to succeed him after his wife could not give this to him so he wanted a divorce, so he became the head of a new church in England |
| Counter Reformation | The Roman Catholic Church used this to fight against the protestant attacks |
| Martin Luther | A monk who lived in the Holy Roman Empire he concluded that several traditional church practices violated biblical teachings, so he fought against them |
| Predestined | Determined before birth if one would get to heaven |
| Indulgences | Sold by the Catholic Church to the wealthy people they were told that it would bring them to heaven quicker when the time came |
| Inquisition | A court that had been established in the late 12th century in punished nonbelievers of the church sometimes in forms of torture |
| 95 theses | Charges Martin Luther nailed to the door of the church this defiantly challenged the church |
| Protestant Reformation | The various reform efforts it was a movement in the 1500s that tried to fix/reform the corruption in the Catholic Church |
