| Plot | Plot- is defined as sequence of eventsin a story. What happens in a story. |
| Exposition | gives necessary background information- |
| Inciting Incident | An event or action that tirggers the next action; |
| Rising Action | A series of steps, obstacles or problems which lead to the climax of the story |
| Climax | The most intense point in the narrative |
| Falling action | the plot where the conflict is resolved |
| Resolution | Wrap-up of any loose ends in the narrative. |
| Perspective | Perspective, is defined as the point of view or the type of narration |
| First person | Told from a characters perspective. Uses “I”. |
| Second Person | The use of “you” |
| Third Person-Omniscient | the narrator is all-knowing and we get to see what most of the character are thinking/feelings |
| Third Person-Limited | get to see what one of the characters are thinking/feeling |
| Atmosphere/Mood | Atmosphere Is defined as the mood of the story |
| Characters | Characters, is defined as a person or the people |
| Protagonist | The main figure int he story; can be good or bad. |
| Antagonist | The character who opposes the protagonist; can be good or bad |
| Side Character | Used as plot device or for humour |
| Person vs Person | two characters in conflict with each other |
| Person vs Self | A character in conflict with their beliefs, guilt..etc |
| Person vs Natur | A character in conflict with the elemts/natural world |
| Person vs Society | A character in conflict with a group’s beliefs and/or a societal institution |
| Theme | Theme, is defined as “the moral of the story”. |
| Setting | Setting, is defined as the time and place of the story. |
