QuestionAnswer
complementary event two events in Wich either one or the other must happen but they cannot happen at the same time the sum of probability of an event and its complement is 1 or 100%
compound event an event consisting of two more simple events
event the desired outcome or set of outcomes in a probaility expermiment
experimental probability an estimated probilitiy based on the relative frequency of posittive outcomes occuring during an experiment it is based on what actually occured during such an experiment
likelihood the chance of an event ocurring
outcome any one of the possible results of an action for example 4 is an outcome when a number cube is rolled
probability the chance that some event will happen it is ratio of the number of favorbale outcomes to the number of possible outcomes
probability experiment when you perform an event to find the likelihood of an event
relative frequency a ratio that compares the frequency of each category to the total
relative frequency graph a graph used to organize ocurrences compared to a total
relative frequency table a table used to orgianze ocurrences compared to a total
sample space the set of all possible outcomes of a probability experiment
simple event one outcome or collection of outcomes
simulation an experment that is designed to model the action in a given situation
theoretical probability the ratio of the number of ways an event can occur to the number of possible outcomes in the sample space it is based on what shouod happen when conducting a probability experiment
theoretical probability of a compound event the ratio of the number of ways an event can occur to the number of possbile outcomes in the sample space it is based on what shouold happen when conducting a porbability experiment
tree diagram a diagram used to show the sample space

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
