Concurrent, Reserved, and Shared powers

| What are concurrent powers? | Powers for the national AND state government |
| Delegated powers allow the federal government to... | Coin money, maintain military forces, declare war, set up postal system, regulate foreign and domestic trade, etc. |
| Concurrent powers allow the state and national government to... | Levy and collect taxes, provide public health, establish courts, borrow money, etc. |
| The states have powers which are to... | Conduct elections, establish schools, provide fire and police protections, establish local government, enact licenses, etc. |

| Why were the Concurrent, Reserved, and Shared powers created? | To make sure the national government doesn't have too much power and avoid tyranny in the Federal government, and to also make sure the states don't have too much power and the national government is weak. |
