| Term | Definition |

| Congruent powers | Powers that are shared among states and the government |
| Enumerated powers | Powers that are only for the national level |
| Reserved powers | Powers that are reserved to the states |
| Coin money | A Enumerated power. Allows congress to regulate the money |
| Protect public health | A Congruent power. To allow everyone to have free public health care. |
| Establish Schools | A Reserved power. Allowing the states to provide a free education to all. |
| Declare war | A Enumerated power. Allowing the federal government declare war on others countries |
| Punish lawbreakers | A congruent power. Allowing both states and government to punish people who broke the law at the state level and the national level. |
| Regulate marriage, divorce, and adoption | A reserved power. Allowing the states to handle low level things like divorce or marriage because the national level doesn't need to take care of that. |
| Maintain military forces | A Enumersted power. Allowing the national government to control the military. |
