Term Definition
Hue The pure colour name (e.g., red, blue)
Shade A darkened version of a hue
Primary colours Colours that cannot be made by mixing others (red, blue, yellow)
Secondary colours Colours made by mixing primary colours (green, orange, purple)
Complementary colours Colours opposite each other on the colour wheel
Vibrant Bright, intense, eye-catching
Dull Muted, soft, not bright
Intensity The brightness or dullness of a colour
