| Fluoride prophy pastes | Contraindicated before acid etching when bonding sealants or other materials |
| Chalk | Also known as whiting; precipitated calcium carbonate used in toothpaste and polishing pastes |

| silex | Fairly abrasive; used for cleaning more heavily (tenacious) stained tooth surfaces |
