Travel Is the movement of a person from one location to another location of some distance for any of several reasons
Person-trip Is one person on a trip away from home overnight in paid accommodations or on any trip to a place more that 50 miles (one way) away from home
Tourism Is the industry that develops and organizes destinations and then markets those destinations to travelers
Destination Is a predetermined endpoint to which a mode of transportation travels
Destination marketing organization (DMO) Is an organization that represents stakeholders in a destinations Tourism industry
Travel agent Is an individual who works at a retail business that brings travelers and travel industry supplies together
Supplier Is a company that creates and provides fundamental travel products
Travel planner Has many of the same duties as a travel agent, but usually works in-house for a large corporation
Travel agency Is a private business that promotes travel sales to public on behalf of the travel industry
Commission Is a percentage of the same price that is paid to he seller
Economy of scale In a service industry is achiever when a supplier, such as hotel, is able to offer a reduced price because of large scale volume
Business travel Is travel done for the purpose of sales, training, and functions related to work
Dynamic packaging Is a process used by travel agents that allows travelers to build their own package of flights, hotels, and car rentals around their specific needs
Meetings,events, and incentive (ME&I) travel This is a type of Tourism that includes a planned agenda for large group, with a similar work, educational, recreational purpose
Leisure travel Also called pleasure travel, is travel for relaxation and enjoyment
Visit friends and family (VFR) A form of travel in which the specific purpose is to see people opposed to destination
Frequency Is the offering of several departures daily or weekly by a carrier
Carrier A company that transports passengers
Elapsed flying time The actual length of time that passes between departures and arrival of a flight
Hub Is an airport designated by an air carrier to serve a point for its own airline connecting flights
Schedules airlines Offer planned flights over set routes
Charter airlines only fly when they are contracted by clients such as touroperaters, travel agents and sports teams
